Underground Mining tyres

Underground mining is used to extract ore from below the surface of the earth safely, economically and with as little waste as possible. Room and pillar mining is a style of mining where tunnels are driven in a chess board pattern with massive square pillars between them which are gradually cut away as the work proceeds. This is used for mining coal. Ore mining can be demanding operation for the equipment. However, the underground world of mining is as rough as it gets for tyres. Heavy loads, cuts and bruises. Day in, day out.

At Magna Tyres we specifically designed mining tyres for the underground mining sector. These tyres are engineered for the extreme conditions they must withstand. Such as fallen rock debris, flooding and heat encountered in the extraction of the underground materials. They also have to be able to withstand heavy loads with the demands of increased productivity. With the introduction of the new mining tyres, every individual vehicle’s requirements are met. All underground mining tyres offer a full steel radial construction that delivers outstanding performance and load capability. This tyre range includes different sizes such as a 26.5R25 or a 29.5R25. Initially, the Magna Tyres underground mining range comprises 5 tyres. In the meantime, additional customer requirements will be evaluated, which may lead to a further portfolio extension. 

At this moment, our underground mining range can be mounted under many mining machinery such as underground loaders and hauler trucks. These underground trucks operate in extremely harsh underground mining environment. An articulated underground dump truck is well suited for use in large projects with limited space because of their small turning radius. But even if the dump truck needs to transport bulk materials it is ideally suited. Sometimes they need to transport over 40 tons. Therefore it is important to fit the right tyre. Underground rigid dump trucks are perfect for off-road mining and heavy transportation.
