How is an OTR tire made?

Tires are almost the most important part of a machine. In fact, the tire is the only part that comes into contact with the road. Therefore, it is important that tires to find the balance between traction and comfort and, of course, to have a long life. OTR tires have many requirements that they must meet and therefore they are much more difficult to design than you might think. There are usually 5 steps that are taken during tire manufacturing, before an OTR tire is included in a range. Below I will show you these 5 steps!

1. Understanding through research

Before tire manufacturing starts, we study our customer’s tire usage and continue to communicate with them to ensure that our tires meet everyone’s needs and last as long as possible.

2. Preparation

To produce an OTR tire, more than 200 components are added together to make the perfect rubber. From raw materials such as carbon black to semi-finished products such as textile fabrics.

3. Tire design

We design many different renders to develop the best tires that are tested.

4. Manufacturing

Our OTR tires are expertly built through automated processes. During these processes, the materials of the tire are converted from a plastic state to an elastic state. This operation is called vulcanization and during this process the compound structure between the different components of the tire is created. This can take place through the special presses that have a combined action of heat and pressure. This phase can last up to 12 hours, depending on the size of the tire. During this phase the tire is also given its final shape and appearance.

5. Quality control

Quality control does not just happen at the end of the process. From the moment the raw materials and semi-finished products arrive until the tires leave the factory, quality checks are carried out at every stage.
