Why Choose Solid Forklift Tyres?
Forklifts operate under conditions that leave no room for error. A puncture mid-shift, a tyre that wears unevenly, or the wrong specification for the surface translates directly into downtime, delays, and rising operational costs. Solid forklift tyres eliminate that risk at the source.
For indoor use, tyre choice directly affects floor integrity and load stability. For outdoor and mixed-surface operations, the compound and tread pattern determine grip, wear rate, and resistance to cuts and abrasion. Selecting the right tyre for your environment reduces wear, protects surfaces, and keeps your fleet operating at full capacity.
If your forklifts move between indoor and outdoor environments, our specialists can advise on the specification that covers both without compromise.
Indoor and Outdoor Use
Not every operation runs on a smooth warehouse floor. Solid forklift tyres from Magna Tyres perform across a broad range of surfaces, from polished concrete in distribution centres to compacted gravel in outdoor yards and container terminals.

Built for Heavy Loads
Solid forklift tyres are designed to carry weight consistently, across long shifts, and without degrading. Load capacity is determined by tyre size, compound hardness, and carcass construction. Choosing an under-specified tyre for a heavy application accelerates wear, increases heat build-up, and raises the risk of premature failure.
Our solid forklift tyres are rated for the loads your operation actually runs. The advanced compound manages heat effectively under sustained pressure, maintaining structural integrity across full working cycles. The result: longer tyre life, lower cost-per-hour, and fewer unplanned replacements.
Cost Efficiency: Purchase Price vs Total Cost of Ownership
The purchase price of a solid forklift tyre tells you very little about what it will actually cost you. A lower-priced tyre that wears faster, fails earlier, or causes downtime will cost significantly more over its operational life than a properly specified tyre from the start.
Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for forklift tyres includes tyre life, replacement frequency, labour costs for tyre changes, and the cost of any downtime caused by tyre failure. Magna Tyres solid forklift tyres deliver a strong TCO, combining Tier 1 compound quality and carcass durability at a price point that makes the business case clear.
Choosing on price alone is a risk. Choosing on TCO is a strategy.
Standard Black or Non-Marking Tyres
Tyre type is not only a question of durability. It is also a question of what your operation requires from its floor.
Standard black solid tyres are the default choice for outdoor yards, container handling, and environments where floor marking is not a concern. The black carbon compound delivers excellent durability and resistance to abrasion. The Magna MA06 Forklift is a strong example of this category: a robust, dependable solid tyre built for intensive forklift operations on demanding surfaces.
Non-marking solid tyres are formulated without carbon black, producing no dark marks on floors or goods. These tyres are the correct specification for food production facilities, pharmaceutical warehouses, tile and flooring distribution centres, and any operation where surface cleanliness or product appearance cannot be compromised. The Magna MA610 PRO3 is engineered precisely for these environments, offering the same structural durability as a standard solid tyre without the marking risk.
We supplies both variant. If you are unsure which specification applies to your application, discuss it with our experts.
How to Read a Forklift Tyre Size
Solid forklift tyre sizes follow a standardised format, but they can look unfamiliar at first. Understanding the dimensions ensures you order the correct fit and avoid costly mismatches.
A typical solid forklift tyre size reads as: [Width] x [Outer Diameter] – [Rim Diameter] For example: 18 x 7 – 8
- Width (18): the tyre width in inches, measured across the tread face
- Outer Diameter (7): the overall outer diameter of the tyre in inches
- Rim Diameter (8): the diameter of the wheel rim the tyre fits, in inches
Some tyres use metric sizing or include a load index and speed symbol. If you are replacing an existing tyre, the size is moulded into the sidewall. If you are specifying new tyres for a machine, cross-reference the manufacturer’s recommendation with the axle load and application.

What is the difference between a solid forklift tyre and a pneumatic tyre?
A solid forklift tyre is manufactured from solid rubber throughout, containing no air. This eliminates the risk of punctures, pressure loss, and blowouts entirely. Pneumatic tyres are air-filled and offer a softer ride on uneven terrain, but they are vulnerable to puncture damage and require regular pressure monitoring. For operations running intensive shift cycles, solid tyres reduce maintenance overhead and maximise uptime. Magna Tyres solid forklift tyres such as the Magna MA06 Forklift are engineered specifically for high load cycles and demanding surfaces.
When do I need non-marking forklift tyres?
Non-marking forklift tyres are required in facilities where floor cleanliness and product integrity cannot be compromised. Typical applications include food production, pharmaceutical warehousing, tile and flooring distribution, and electronics manufacturing. Standard black tyres contain carbon black in the compound, which leaves dark marks on smooth floors. Non-marking tyres are formulated without carbon black, preventing surface contamination while maintaining the same structural durability. The Magna MA610 PRO3 is engineered for exactly these environments, delivering reliable solid tyre performance without marking risk.
How do I read a solid forklift tyre size?
Solid forklift tyre sizes follow a standardised three-part format: width x outer diameter – rim diameter. For example, the size 18 x 7 – 8 indicates a tyre width of 18 inches, an outer diameter of 7 inches, and a rim diameter of 8 inches. The size is moulded into the sidewall of your existing tyre. When specifying new tyres, always cross-reference the forklift manufacturer’s recommendation with the axle load and application to confirm the correct specification. Ordering the wrong size results in fitment failure and operational delays.
Are solid forklift tyres suitable for outdoor use?
Solid forklift tyres perform across a broad range of surfaces, including polished concrete, compacted gravel, asphalt, and mixed outdoor yards. The correct choice depends on the tread pattern and compound specification for the application. For outdoor and mixed-surface operations, the tread pattern determines grip and resistance to cuts and abrasion. Forklifts that operate between indoor and outdoor environments require a tyre specified for both conditions.
